How It Works These three main components work together to accomplish your goals.

Local Directory

  • You get a local business directory using your domain name, hosted by the 25Coupons.com system, which you can use to make the initial contact with local businesses.
  • Your "Advertise" link on your directory site has your company information, company logo, products offered, zone maps and a prospecting form.
  • Your direct mail flyers or postcards can be used to drive traffic to your local directory where they can read and write reviews & get coupons.
  • Monetize your local directory by charging for premium directory listings or display ads.

Email Marketing

  • Your local directory has an opt-in form where you can capture your visitor's email address and birthday.
  • Our responsive design works smoothly and looks great on mobile devices so your visitors will have the best experience.
  • You can use the 25Coupons.com email marketing service to send your opt-ins solo emails or pre-defined auto-responders on their birthday or half-birthday.
  • When the advertiser is ready to buy, they can purchase your pre-defined products (one-time or subscription-based), which then logs them in and prompts for payment, either through your merchant account or Paypal.
  • Monetize your email list by charging local businesses for running these email offers.

Direct Mail

  • In your admin panel, you can assign and arrange all the ads, create agreements for advertisers to either print and fax or e-Sign, view payments & resend email invoices.
  • An invoice is automatically generated and emailed to the client when you assign a space for them on your flyer or postcard, along with a special ad questionnaire link that the client can fill out with their desired ad details.
  • When you're all ready to go to the printers, you click a button and it will automatically generate and archive the a high-resolution pdf files that you can then upload to your printer.

* Each organization has one directory under one domain name. An organization can include any number of cities across any number of states. For example, you might have an organization named "YourLocalDeals.org". This would be one web directory site that you would direct all your visitors to.

** Each organization can be sub-divided into cities (markets). Vistors to your directory will be prompted to choose their city from a drop-down box. The list of cities they can choose from are the markets that you define within the system.

*** A zone is a group of postal carrier routes that you plan to mail a particular postcard or flyer to. Each zone belongs to one market. For example, within your "YourLocalDeals.org" organization you might have several markets, each with several zones. One such market could be "Greenville", and the zones for that market might be "Greenville North" and "Greenville South", each with 10,000 mailboxes.

Software FAQ Please email your questions to info@25coupons.com

How do I set up up my domain name for use with 25Coupons.com in Godaddy?

http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/680/managing-dns-for-your-domain-names#cnames
  1. Let's say your domain name is www.example.com
  2. You will then enter "www" for the cname and point that to www.25coupons.com

Next, you can set up forwarding to forward example.com to www.example.com

http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/422/forwarding-or-masking-your-domain-name
  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Next to Domains, click Launch.
  3. Select the domain names you want to forward.
  4. Next to Forwarding, click Manage.
  5. Click Update Forwarding.
  6. Select "Forward Only" from the Forward Settings menu.
  7. Click Edit.

So, to recap:

  1. Someone types in "example.com", the root of your domain, without the www.
  2. This redirects them to www.example.com via forwarding in godaddy.
  3. www.example.com is a cname pointed to www.25coupons.com, so it will hit the www.25coupons.com system, but with your www.example.com domain in the address bar, and your company home page with your zones will be shown.

What is a zone and what is a mailing?

A zone is a group of postal carrier routes that you plan to mail to. For example, your zone could be called "South Beach Northeast" and it might have 10,000+ mailboxes. One of the first things you'll do is pick out what area you want to target and then you'll select the carrier routes that you want to mail to and save a zone map image file. (Check out the Every Door Direct Mail Setup video). Once you have created your zone, you can then create mailings that will go to that zone. Each mailing is simply a particular flyer or postcard that will be mailed to your zone on a particular date. Your zone signup page is where your advertisers will order, and the system will attempt to place them on the mailing that is set to go out on the next soonest mailing date in the future for that zone.

How can I send 10,000 mail pieces via EDDM when the USPS website says I can only send 5,000 per day?

If you want to do the printing yourself and then deliver the mailers to the post office yourself, then you can only deliver 5,000 per zip code per day. So you'd have to create a second order and submit it to the post office for the second day. However, if you decide to use the 11x17 or 8.5x11 format and have them fulfilled via EveryDoorDirectMail.com, this won't be an issue because they ship the flyers to the post office via priority mail and they enter through the bulk mail entry unit, and they place their own bulk mail indicia permit on the mailers, so there is no limit on the number that can be delivered per day. The 5,000 per zip code, per day, limit applies to EDDM Retail only, and not bulk mail entry.

Where can I find stock photos to use for my ads and what size should I purchase?

There are numerous stock photo sites out there. BigStockPhoto.com has thousands of photos and has decent pricing. As for the size of the photos, if you go with the smaller size, it will look ok when you print it, but the larger size will be sharper. The smaller size should work fine for most cases because We have used images off websites before for printing, which isn't recommended because they are low resolution, but the reality is, as long as it looks ok then it's fine because no one really studies it or cares. It just has to look "good enough" and have a good offer worth redeeming. Have you ever seen the quality of photos in the newspaper? Your product will be superior to other direct mail ad publications, so don't get too hung up on having ultra-resolution quality. .jpg or .png is fine to purchase, but most stock photo sites offer .jpg.

How do I change the border color of my postcard or flyer?

You can change the border color by editing your Organization Profile and choosing a color or entering in your own hex color code.

How do I hook up my Paypal account?

You don't need to do anything special to hook up your Paypal account. All you need to do is enter your Paypal email address on your Organization Profile page and our system will automatically hook up to the Paypal API so that we'll be notified when each payment goes through so we can log it appropriately in our system.

Is it important to have a merchant account? How do I get one?

It is always a good idea to have a merchant account because the money goes directly to you and is not held by Paypal, which has been known to freeze accounts. The other benefit to having a merchant account is that once you have your advertisers credit card number stored securely in your merchant account vault, you can easily charge their card next time they place an ad, which makes it much easier for you and your advertiser, instead trying to have them continually write checks or login and submit payment via Paypal. Simply fill out this form to apply for a merchant account: Merchant Account Application.

How do I create my own Promo Graphic for my Postcard or Flyer?

  • For 11x17" flyers, this image should be 1976x746 @300dpi and should not contain any postage square (this blank square is added automatically to 11x17 flyers and is then filled in by www.EveryDoorDirectMail.com with their bulk-permit indicia when you upload your final flyer to them).
  • For 9x12" postcards, this image should be 2360x404 @300dpi and must contain the postage indicia and the text "Local Postal Customer". The background color of the image should match whatever background color you have set for the postcard in your Organization Profile.
  • For 8.5x11" postcards, this image should be 2163x382 @300dpi and must contain the postage indicia and the text "Local Postal Customer". The background color of the image should match whatever background color you have set for the postcard in your Organization Profile. (If you are using www.EveryDoorDirectMail.com to fulfill your 8.5x11 postcards, check with them first on their requirements for the postage indicia as they may just want a white square that they will then fill in with their bulk-permit indicia.)

Tip: Right-click and save these images below and then upload them to Fiverr and ask someone to clone the sample ad, only with your info and background color.

How do I create samples with my own promo graphic for use on my site?

Once you have your first mailing done, you can simply upload your two images for use as your sample pdfs by editing your organization profile and finding the "Custom Postcard Sample PNG Images" section. But before you have done your first mailing, you may want to replace the default samples that are used in order to show your promo graphic on the samples. To create your own samples, just follow these instructions.
  1. Upload your promo graphic for your zone and choose your background color to match your promo graphic
  2. Create a mailing for your zone and click save.
  3. Now when viewing your list of mailings, find the PDFs column and click to archive both sides of your mailing. This will create pdf and png files for that mailing. It will just show a blank spaces where there are no advertisers.
  4. Refresh your mailings list and right-click to save the png images to your computer, and then re-upload them on your organization profile page to be used as samples.

11x17 Flyer FAQ Please email your questions to info@25coupons.com

How are the flyers delivered? Are they taped shut?

Flyers are delivered to every residential and business mailbox in the zone (P.O. boxes are not included). They are not taped shut.

Is the flyer in full color?

Yes, our flyers are full-color and on glossy paper.

Can you help me design my ad?

Yes! We offer a free ad consultation and design service for our customers. Simply email your high-resolution logo and any other photos you have to info@25coupons.com and we'll design an ad for you. If you don't have any high-resolution images handy, don't worry...we can also pull images and logos right from your website. Often times if the image quality is decent enough on your website we can put together an ad for you that will look great when printed, even with lower-resolution images. We'll send you a preview and you can let us know any tweaks you need to make before your final approval.

What are the dimensions of the flyer?

The full flyer is 11x17" which is then folded in half to make an 8.5x11" final mailer. Each 8.5x11" page is divided into four rows. Our standard-sized ad is one row, which is 1/4 of a page.

What are the exact pixel dimensions of your ads?

You can upload background graphics or photos of any size and the system will automatically crop them to fit properly inside the ad size you have chosen. However, if you want full control over your ad and don't want your background graphic to be cropped, use the following dimensions:

  • Full-Page Ad: w=2442px, h=3008px @ 300dpi (8.14"x10.027")
  • 3/4-Page Ad: w=2442px, h=2250px @ 300dpi (8.14"x7.5")
  • 1/2-Page Ad: w=2442px, h=1498px @ 300dpi (8.14"x4.993")
  • 1/4-Page Ad: w=2442px, h=746px @ 300dpi (8.14"x2.487")
  • 1/8-Page Ad: w=1213px, h=746px @ 300dpi (4.043"x2.487")
  • 1/12-Page Ad: w=796px, h=746px @ 300dpi (2.653"x2.487")
  • Narrower 1/4-Page Ad next to postage indicia square: w=1976px, h=746px @ 300dpi (6.587"x2.487") (Note: This ad should not include the postage square as the square is automatically generated by the system.)

How long does it take for the flyers to arrive?

About two weeks from the print deadline. So if the print deadline is at noon on a Wednesday, flyers are then processed, printed and bundled the following week, and then will be delivered to mailboxes somewhere between the Tuesday, 13 days later, and the Saturday following.

Sample 11x17" Flyer Flyer is folded in half to make an 8.5x11" final mailer. You can sell full-page, 3/4-page, 1/2-page, 1/4-page, 1/8-page or 1/12-page ads in any combination, so essentially you could have as few as 4 advertisers or as many as 46.

Our Story

Kent Thompson, Founder

Kent Thompson, 25 Coupons Founder

If you're like most businesses, you want more leads...as many as possible!

Now, we all know that you can reach your prospects through a variety of marketing methods like social media, email, text message, etc..., but even with all the new technology we have, direct mail advertising still stands out for one important reason:

You can reach a lot of prospects WITHOUT having to ask their permission first!

If you think about it, they don't have to opt-in, submit a form, send a text-message or search for you, and they don't even have to turn on the TV or Radio in order to see your offer.

However, direct mail advertising still comes with two big challenges:

1. Can you make your direct-mail postcard campaign cost effective?

Let's say you want to mail out a 6"x9" postcard to 10,000 mailboxes surrounding your business. Now, the nice thing about a postcard is that you've got a lot of space all to yourself.

However, if you have a full-service vendor print and mail these for you, it will cost you around $3-5,000. Yikes!

Is your response going to be enough to justify the expense? It might be too risky to even try it if you have a limited budget.

2. Newspapers or circulars might be cheaper than postcards, but will they see your ad?

If you're buried on page 4, are people even going to open the paper to that page?

Even if you have a front page ad, the sheer size, flimsiness and inky feeling of newspaper makes it so cumbersome that if often goes straight to the recycle bin...especially when it's got a rubber band around it or when it's in a plastic bag.

The bottom line is, prospects have to jump through several hoops before they will ever see your ad in the paper, even if you have the world's best offer.

What if there was a way for it to be cheap AND so that people will see your ad?

One day as I was looking through the newspaper coupon inserts I had an idea. If we got local businesses to come together and share a large 11x17" flyer, we could slash the cost of printing and postage for each business while still keeping every ad and coupon in plain view. Prospects would be more likely to see every offer this way.

With 25 Coupons, you get the same impact as a postcard campaign for a fraction of the cost.

And you don't need a graphic designer...we'll create your ad for free!

But it doesn't stop there. Shortly after doing the first flyer, I saw the opportunity to combine the local directory concept, email marketing and birthday coupons into a one-stop package that could really give each local business owner a lot of leverage that goes well beyond just the direct-mail flyer. So all of those features were added into the system, bringing you a complete marketing package for a low monthly investment.

That's how 25 Coupons got started, and now we are excited provide you with a cost-effective way to reach a lots of new customers! And of course we hope you enjoy getting the coupons in your mailbox and in your email and supporting your favorite local businesses in your community!
